A ‘Botanical Meets Industrial’ Wedding Theme

A ‘Botanical Meets Industrial’ Wedding Theme

This post has been a long time coming!! Our ‘Urban Jungle‘ wedding concept was actually produced in 2017 but our Creative Director, Kat, was also training as a mental health professional, which allowed little time to promote her work. 4 years on, (and now that she has qualified), we believe it is never too late to spread the word about a unique and innovative design. What better time also, when people are starting to think about weddings again in the wake – (we hope!) – of the pandemic…

These designs and products were inspired by a brief, set by a London-based collective of independent designer-makers, to promote their beautiful handmade wedding products and services and showcase them through a photoshoot. The theme was ‘Botanical Meets Industrial‘, which encompassed a handmade, modern and creative feel; where copper, metallics and industrial colours were paired with bold, botanical foliage; combining cool, urban landscapes with a touch of the organic. The results, (we felt), were striking; and the photoshoot – in collaboration with Lucy Long Photography and The Depot – is featured here, thanks to Boho Weddings for promoting it.

Our Urban Jungle Wedding Invitation Set (pictured above) has been beautifully captured by Diana Stainton Photography. It offers two layout options for the invitations and save the dates – one with an irregular border, where the leaves spill in from the edges; and the other with a regular border, where the leaves are enclosed by a rectangular edge. In the latter layout, a patterned version of this design has been created and enclosed within the border, and also features on the reverse of the invitations and save the dates. This pattern can also be used to line the envelopes if the customer wishes, but we do offer plain envelopes in ebony, forest green or grey (below right).

All of these invitations have been digitally printed on 100% recycled card with a subtle, textured finish, which coincides with the lux, organic quality of this wedding theme. The envelopes are made from FSC certified paper and everything is designed and printed here in the UK.

The tropical leaf design itself has been hand drawn initially and put into a repeat layout. Kat also added a textured colourway of copper, forest green, industrial grey and charcoal, which were originally adapted from a photo of a warehouse wall, where various layers of paint were chipping away. We felt that this ‘mottled’ effect gave the design extra warmth and interest, and were pleased to see how well it also worked on fabric, so we decided to create some groomsmen’s ties (below).

These groomsmen’s ties are all digitally printed and handmade in the UK using cotton-linen fabric. The skinny tie and pocket square are lined with a cotton/chambray fabric – (* in these first examples (pictured), the fabric availability was limited, therefore the lining fabric may sometimes change but the colour will remain very similar). We thought they offered something more fun and unusual to a plain or traditional wedding suit; and they looked great with the Vintage Suit Hire’s grey tweed suit, (modelled by Joe Street during the photoshoot).

The bow ties can be made to the measure and the tie is 2.5” at its widest width and of a standard length. The Pocket Square is 10” by 10” but again, a larger size and price can be agreed. Kat also provides custom print designs for groomsmen’s ties, bow ties or pocket squares, which can be made to the same style and quality. You can furthermore have custom invitations to coincide with your chosen design theme, as well as table plans, place name cards, table name signs, you name it!… We soon discovered how easy it was to get carried away :)
